My Near Death:
|
|
On May 19, 2006, I went into the hospital with a double
pneumonia. They had to put me on a ventilator, so
they put me into a coma. Some 30 odd days later I
woke up from the coma and was informed that I had
developed A.R.D.S. (Acute Respiratory Distress
Syndrome). I had multiple organ failures (kidneys,
liver, heart), a tracheotomy, and a fever of 107°,
which nearly scrambled my brains. They had
informed my wife that I would not come out of the
hospital alive. |

But, I did. I made it. I lived. I have to be
honest though, I was a little let down, because I
never had what I would call a divine intervention, I
never saw a light. I thought for certain I would
have something of a religious experience, but I didn't.
I did however have a few visions. I remember
feeling that I was in Florida and that it was Christmas
time. I also remember feeling that I went on a
trip to Turkey with my brother. I was put into a
rehab "boot camp" program to teach me how to eat, drink,
& walk again. |

Rehab was the hardest thing I have ever done in my life.
It was the greatest challenge just to stand up again,
let alone walk. But, I fought through it. I
had lost a lot of weight, which I have gained back
already. I do want to thank my wife Katie, for
staying by my side through all of this. She went
above and beyond in helping me come home and to heal.
The doctors would not let me come home unless the entire
house was painted. So Katie coordinated a massive
effort of friends and family to repaint our entire house
in about a weeks time. In addition, on her
website, Katie gave updates as to my condition, to keep
everyone informed. Thank You to Katie and everyone
else who helped. |

On July 3rd, 2006 I came home from the hospital.
Climbing the stairs was extremely tough, but with
Katie's help, I did it. Walker & wheel chair, I
couldn't believe it was me. Well, I no longer ask why
me? It happened and its over, I am still alive!!!
Unfortunately, 6 days after I got home, my father passed
away. The last time I saw him was at the hospital,
when he came to visit me in rehab. I sometimes
think he made a deal with God to take him instead of me.
I miss you Pa. |
